Well Hello There...,

Post by skweetis2u » Thu Nov 01, 2018 8:33 pm

...Been a while - so how have you all been ?
Me ? damn it's been tuff - i'll just blame it onall
this trump shit - the Stink is so bad on him a person
likeme just can't get away from it....

Plus - i just got blocked on facebook for 30 days...,
serves me Right - all i can say - i certainly needed a break from
that madness.
frankly - i'll be candid - "things" are Spinning Out of Control
here in the good ole usa

that being said - this post is about
theMelvins of course
some of you may know theMelvins just
wrapped up a european tour with 5-6 UK dates
one of the last shows just a week or 10daze ago
was at KlubKoKo in camden town...,

So -?- has anybody ever taken me seriously about this band ?
just asking for a friend
joking - Not Joking about theMelvins
this last tour was a colossal Tour de Force
Everybody Says So (yes -another joke)
but not theMelvins
so if anybody on here or just a visitor has seen them on
this last tour or ever - please - let me know what your impression was ?

Too Loud would probly be the most common response if
by some sick twist of fate everyone here had seen them...,
that being said i will leave it alone -
Except to close i do want to reccommend a listen
to theMelvins latest release
Pinkus Abortion Technician
a nod to the new additional member
bass player and Banjo Player Extraordinaire
Jeff Pinkus - one of the founding members of
Legendary Punk(?) Band - ButtHole Surfers.
check out track 4 for the banjo playing showcase
beyond that i just wanna say this cd is another Melvins Masterpiece
honestly and absolutly -
the other bass player (they all play together a foursome)
is Steven McDonald of Red Kross Fame
who cofounded redkross with his brothr and some othr high school kids
back in the 80's somewhere in L.A. if you know what i mean ?

anybody that is sill reading - chek out track 6 for a little nod to the Beatles

track 1 is a blistering "Take" on the old joe walsh & James Gang song "Stop"

the whole album is beautiful

Ground Control to Major Tom
Can U hear me Major Tom ?

and a shout out to GC the Squier himself for his
recent successes in the World of Music
world of Music

thank you squier U Deserve it all for what U have given us !

oh well - i think the Kops are here
I gotta Run....

:D

Did you see this Skweets? Graham calling The Melvins brilliant unsung heroes.

https://www.theguardian.com/music/2018/ ... y-20s-blur

TBH what I've heard from them does sound a bit on the noisy side for my delicate earholes. I'll check out that album though and see if I can find the nod to the Beatles.

tks for that link - no - i swear - i never guessed that GC even knew who they were

so Happy to see that -

as for the loudness factor - well - if you taking a listen to something
off of the new cd - u can adjust the volume but live shows are where
u wanna be once you fall in love with these guys -

i certainly agree with GC in that interview/article
that most pop music or rock from the older huge bands
is kinda lacking - & maybe uninspired...,

i've always enjoyed people's attempts to classify or pigeonhole
theMelvins sound cuz they really are constanly evolving into new stuff -
but i was impressed with the article author who managed to come up with
proto grunge punk rock -

seeing a live show is a life affirming celebration of art and music
always thought of melvins shows as performance art - but of course any band
that performs publicly could make the same claim....

tks a million times for that link
